Experience

I have coded custom macros to work with SolidWorks, automating repetitive features and adding checks to ensure a design conforms to internal standards. This has reduced drawing time by 94, while incorportating  automated SKU generation.

Another key part of my role is the management of fitting instructions and datasheets. Typically, this involves taken test data and putting it in a easy to read format, or going into detail into how to install a product. The key to this is having an eye for detail and being able to foresee potential installation problems.

Recently, I took on extra responsibilities, with increased remit to add to our product range, while also operating the Google Ads for one of our brands. Though I was new to this, I managed to reach an 8.5 ROI within the first 6 months, rivalling estimates of professional agencies. I also assisted in designing packaging labels, ensuring that the necessary details were present, whilst providing key improvements to add to the customer’s experience.

Whilst at MMS I worked on a range of different graphical tasks, including packaging, event banners, weekly promotion artwork and business cards. I developed an eye for what would look good in practice, rather than just what appeared on the screen.

A key contribution during this time was coding scripts in Adobe software to automate certain repetitive tasks. One example of this, is building a format check into a program that populated the fields in  business cards. This removed the chance of mis-typing a phone number and ensured the right letters were capitalised.

My key responsibilities at Powerflex was the creation and improvement of products, whilst ensuring the marketing and technical documentation was present. This involved working to tight deadlines, as product releases were on a weekly basis. This meant work seamlessly in a team, whilst overcoming any obstacles during the design process.

This resulted in excellent products that are still in production today. Some of my key successes were anti-roll bar bushings for the Aston Martin Vantage, an engine mount insert for the Toyota Yaris GR and a Ford KA, the latter of which was used in competitive KA racing. This also includes the instructions, marketing material and testing required for all of these parts, as all documentation and testing had to be created from scratch.

As a STEM ambassador I was responsible for creating and running fun learning sessions for children aged 10-18. This meant working tightly as a team and constantly improving lesson plans to add engagement. When running my own sessions, I effectively managed the team to make sure everyone new the lesson plan. I specifically gave them enough instruction to allow them to know the direction to guide a student in, but enough freedom to allow them to improvise in the moment. This flexibility allowed the team to perform at their best and allowed them to contribute their unique experience to a session.

As a clearance call operator, I assisted prospective students by finding a course that suited their grades, whilst ensuring that it remained within what they wanted to do. I had to think on my feet, responding quickly and with compassion. My role was to be the first port of call, acting as a screening to allow the key calls to go through to other operators. I therefore had to ensure I asked the right questions and taking key notes in order to pass the relevant information on when needed, ensuring holding times were kept to a minimum.

I was responsible for ensuring safe usage of the pool and other gym facilities. I worked efficiently as part of a team to keep the facilities working to a high standard and ensure customers were safe and happy with the services provided.
